Bluffton High School students have recently been asked what their favorite Halloween candy is, and Reese’s has officially been crowned the favorite Halloween candy.

Out of 36 different candy brands included in the survey, Reese’s received 23 votes, putting it comfortably in first place. Twix followed in second with 18 votes, while Sour Patch Kids claimed third with 15 votes. KitKat and Snickers tied for fourth place.

The survey collected 237 total votes, with chocolate candies dominating the results. More than half of all votes — 127— went to chocolate-based candy, putting them well ahead of fruity, sour and hard candies.

While chocolate took over the top of the rankings, fruity and sour candies still made a strong showing. Sour Patch Kids led the non-chocolate options, finishing third overall. Other popular fruity and sour choices included Skittles, Starburst and Mike and Ike.

At the other end of the rankings, three candies found themselves in the “elite one-vote club.” Baby Ruth, Circus Peanuts and Good & Plenty each received just one vote, making them the least popular choices in the survey.

Several candies also found themselves caught in tight ties. Butterfinger, Milky Way, Almond Joy and Candy Corn each received six votes, creating a four-way tie. Another five candies — Crunch, Lemonheads, Whoppers, Hot Tamales and Dum Dum's — each received four votes.

There were 13 “other” responses made by students. They consist mostly of different kinds of popular candies, such as peanut butter M&M's. But someone put “dad’s root beer”, not sure what that is, but it isn’t unnoticed.

Although students had 36 different brands to choose from, the results showed a clear preference for chocolate. Reese’s led the way by a decent margin, proving that when Halloween comes around, Bluffton High School students know exactly what they want in their candy bags.
